Landlocked Surfers
(2015)
Imagine a place where the ocean and waves are far away. Would you expect a lot of people to live there who dedicate their lives to surfing? Probably not. Joscha and Lieven - owners of the surf shop Été clothing in Berlin, Kreuzberg - and a lovely small community of surf fans regularly prove the opposite. A few times a year, the store's whole inventory is banned into the backoffice to make room for people to sit on chairs, wooden benches or beer crates. Live music performances, a few drinks and a projector showing classic and new, pro and amateur surf films make the transformation into a cosy surf cinema just perfect. All for free.
This video shows one of those evenings as part of NOUVAGUE's Nord / Nordost Surf Film Fest 2015 - with live music from Hanna Leess, international short films, BBQ and lots of sponsor give-aways. And it shows that you don't need an ocean nearby to have like-minded people coming together enjoying a warm summer's eve full of surfing.
