Prepare
(2012)
Riding your snowboard down the mountain all day certainly leaves its scars on the board: cuts, scratches, dirt or lost wax is not what you prefer when starting into a new week or a whole new season. Your board needs repair. Your board needs maintenance. And the more you love what you are doing, the more you care about your equipment. You won't leave it to anonymous people and machines in a service shop - you know what needs to be done and you just do it yourself. Going through the process of preparing the board yourself can be a beautiful experience, where you can learn all about materials, shapes and the craft itself. It’s that purifying relief when you clean the base from old wax, dirt and grime, that exciting moment when you melt the wax onto the board and spread it around with the iron, that makes this preparation so intense and creates that lasting connection between you and your gear. For in the end - it’s all for your board and all for your ride. And it all becomes a part of yourself.
